ACE Education Advice and Training

Description: Offers a comprehensive range of advice and information on education issues. Information is based on current education law and guidance and covers state funded education for children aged 5-16 years in England only.

Description: Large, clean soft play gym, interactive equipment, rope bridge, 2 slides, 3 ball pools, toddler area and ball pool, café area, multisensory room, changing room with profiling bed and hoist, large car park. Registered with CQC and Ofsted to provide care across a range of settings. Childcare available at weekends and during school holidays at our soft play gym. Telephone for enquiries. Children's parties £100 for exclusive use of the soft play gym (2hours), party pack (optional) £1; kitchen uses multisensory room hire available. Drop in `Stay and Play sessions on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 9.30-3.30pm Term Time only for children and families. Weekend Club and School Holiday Clubs available.


Active Social Care Ltd (HX2 8DB)

Description: Centres in Huddersfield and Bradford as well as Halifax. Services for adults, children and young people who have learning disabilities, complex health needs, autism - including challenging behaviour, sensory impairments, moving and handling needs. Facilities include soft play gym, multi-sensory room, IT suite, art and crafts, cooking and baking and café, weekend club and school holiday club. We also run a teenage group for weekends and holidays (separate to younger children). We also run an outreach service for individual family needs. Outreach services for elderly people with individual needs in their home.


Afasic - Voice for Life (EC1R 0BD)

Description: Afasic is the UK charity representing children and young people with speech, language and communication difficulties, working for their inclusion in society and supporting their parents and carers. We provide support to thousands of people every year, including helpline and email support, free to download factsheets and access to our local networks.


Age UK Calderdale and Kirklees (HX1 1RJ)

Description: For people age 50+ years. Provides support, advice, information and advocacy for older people and their carers. Social activities, day care services, after hospital care, welfare benefits service, befriending, shopping and cleaning service, handyman service, Shopmobility service and sales of mobility and living aids. Legal and financial advice given.

Alzheimer's Society - Calderdale and District branch (HX1 2SH)

Description: Offer support to people of all ages across Calderdale who are affected by all types of dementia as well as their family, friends and carers. Dementia can affect anyone of any age from any part of the community. We offer information and advice in a safe confidential setting. Social events and the opportunity to meet people in a similar situation are also on offer. National Helpline is 0845 300 0336. Daffodil Café runs on the first and third Wednesday of each month at the Maurice Jagger Centre, Halifax between 2pm and 4pm. A social group for those affected by dementia and their carers. Conerstone Café runs at the Civic Hall, Bradford Road, Brighouse every second and fourth Wednesday between 2pm and 4pm. Happy Café runs at Hebden Bridge Town Hall every second and fourth Friday between 10.30am and 12.30pm. Carers' Support group runs every third Thursday at 4th floor, 39-41 Commercial Street, Halifax, HX1 1BE between 1.00pm and 3.00pm. Carers' Support group runs every first Friday at Hebden Bridge Town Hall every first Friday between 10.30am and 12.00pm. Living with Dementia groups run every week on a Monday at Commercial Street between 10.30am and 12.00pm and every first and third Friday at Hebden Bridge Town Hall between 10.30am and 12.00pm. The Halifax Evening Group takes place at Commercial Street every fourth Thursday between 6.00pm and 7.00pm. Call 01422 352789 if you would like more information on any of the groups.


Arthritis Care - Halifax (HX1 1UZ)

Description: The group meets on the third Monday of every month and is open to anyone living with Arthritis, their partners, family and carers. Arthritis Care currently run six different courses for pain management. There is no charge for these courses either to members or non members. Ash Green Children's Centre (HX2 8RX)

Description: The Children's Centre strives to deliver high quality care and education across the community, respecting the needs of individual family units. The centre is community driven and works in partnership with a wide range of individuals, schools and agencies to provide a one-stop shop to health, adult learning, childcare and early education services. Drop in services such as parent and toddler groups, health clinics etc available.


Ash Green Children's Centre Stay & Play

Description: Big and Little Explorers Group - Stay and Play. The group is run by the local community for the local community and is supported by qualified staff. The group runs every Tuesday from 9am to 11am - term time only for 0-4 year olds and costs £1.60 per family. A snack and drink is also provided.


Aspire Volunteer and Mentoring Service (HX1 5DW)

Description: Aspire Volunteer and Mentoring is a person centred service, empowering adults in Calderdale with a disability, physical or sensory impairment, learning difficulty, long term condition, and/or mental health issue, to realise their full potential and work towards achieving their personal goals. The service uses a partnership approach - matching mentors and mentees. the partnership involves listening, questioning and support. Mentoring has learning at its heart. As a mentee, the relationship would be primarily aimed at developing you and your progress. There are also fantastic opportunities for volunteers within the service - a chance to meet new people, make new friends and gain confidence, with a chance to use your individual talents and skills.


Aveta Home Birth Team (HX1 1UN)

Description: The Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust has boosted its maternity services by launching the new Aveta Home Birthing Team. It is a 24 hour team of dedicated home birth midwives. The service provides bespoke support for mums-to-be who want to have their babies at home.


B.A.S.H (HD6 1AQ)

Description: BASH local is a Brighouse based charity but also supports its surrounding areas. We support homeless and vulnerably housed people in the local community via outreach and drop in sessions at the office. For an emergency food parcel call 01484 950506. Foodbank and Support Drop in Services available for anyone in need who has the postcodes HD6 or HX3.

Baby Café - Baby Ballet Centre (HX1 1QG)

Description: Baby cafés are attended by a lactation consultant, midwives assistant, practitioners/healthcare assistants and peer supporters to support mothers with their breast feeding. Baby Massage

Description: Learn Baby Massage in the comfort of your own home. This holistic treatment works with the mind, body and spirit of both the child and the person massaging the child. Qualified practitioner can offer support and advice. Charges apply. Can also provide sessions in a home based treatment room in Queensbury, Bradford.

Better Living Service (HX3 0AQ)

Description: Better Living Service offers physical activities and healthy lifestyles courses that are specifically designed for certain groups of people. All our schemes are free of charge for the first twelve weeks, after which members can benefit from a price subsidy for certain Council Leisure Activities for a further 2 years. Fun physical activities include Dodgeball, Basketball, Athletics, Football, Rugby, Aerobics, Circuit, Cricket, dance and seasonal eg Christmas Disco. Family time includes Rounders, Ultimate Frisbee, family ball games, family fun games, traditional fun games.
