At the From Weaver to Web project we have taken
steps to ensure long-term validity of our work and the interoperability
of our visual archive. In essence this means that the quality
of our digital images and the accompanying information, known
as metadata, is sufficient that compatibility with future resources
is maximised.
We have used a modified Dublin
Core metadata element set and added some custom fields for
keywords and longer text descriptions. It has been our policy
to only feature titles and author names that can be verified rather
than that which is often hand written on the item by some unknown
party. Additionally, dates, locations and background information
are only provided if verification is available.
