Due to the vast amount of relevant historical material and the
relatively limited funds available, we have had to make some clear
decisions regarding exactly what is included in the From Weaver
to Web resource.
In an effort to best represent the collections and the subsequent
documents extracted we have elected to take a 23,000+ image cross
section of material that our historical experts feel would be
most useful to students, researchers and local history enthusiasts.
The historical material has, in the main, been selected from
the Horsfall Turner collection donated to the Central Library
in Halifax, although there have also been significant contributions
from our local partner organisations.
In many cases the material is rare or in an extremely fragile
condition and so unsuitable for frequent manual handling. From
Weaver to Web has enabled these documents to be placed back in
the public domain through digitisation thus aiding their long-term
survival.
