The Snowman

Something Magical is Happening in Halifax this Christmas...

In the Main Auditorium

No 2 in The Guardian's Top 10 things to do at Christmas, 2014

The timeless film will be shown on a large screen accompanied by a live, professional orchestra.

Many people will be familiar with the Snowman film but, when experienced with a live orchestra playing the enchanting score, the effect is magical and very moving. The highlight of the film for many will be the evocative 'Walking in the Air', sung by a young, local soloist. Not a dry eye in the house!

There will also be other Christmas crackers in the concert, including selections from Tchaikovsky's 'Nutcracker' accompanied by specially commissioned animation shown on the large screen, and a Guide to the Orchestra - a festive and light hearted look at the various instruments of the orchestra, featuring some of the UK's top musicians.

Paragon Film Orchestra comprises a group of exceptional musicians, all of whom play for major British orchestras including the Hallé, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and BBC Philharmonic. They will be skilfully conducted by Steve Magee from the Hallé orchestra; no mean task, as he has to synchronise the orchestra perfectly with what's happening on the screen.

This will be a truly memorable experience for all ages, and a wonderful opportunity for the whole family to create lasting memories.
