Grounds maintenance

Introduction

Safer Cleaner Greener Teams are responsible for the grounds maintenance, management and upkeep of:

We also look after many other public areas, open spaces, school grounds and highway verges.

Grounds maintenance duties vary widely and include grass cutting, weed spraying, maintenance of ornamental bedding displays and herbaceous borders, tree and shrub maintenance and playground and sports markings.

Our aim is simple, we want to maintain and enhance the local environment for the benefit of everyone.

Our four area teams are the same as the Calderdale Ward forum areas. Our teams are able to link with residents, working partners and community groups to respond to local neighbourhood issues.

Schedules

All our areas have maintenance schedules which help to keep the local environment in good order.

These schedules relate to the planting of bedding plants, grass cutting, hedge cutting, sports pitch maintenance and ornamental planting.

Some examples of the basic maintenance schedules that we work towards include:

This is a small example of all the routine tasks that our service carries out throughout the year to maintain Calderdale’s parks, open spaces, streets and public spaces.  Additional responsive duties are highlighted and dealt with when they occur.  Please be aware that this is a guide only.  Horticultural activities are often dependent upon weather conditions and as such may vary from the times specified.

If you have any views or suggestions on our grounds maintenance, or would like to report a problem contact Safer Cleaner Greener Services.
