Safer routes to school

Yellow Buses

You may have been used to getting in the car to go to school. Riding the yellow school bus will mean you can meet up with your friends and travel to and from school together.

But there's something else you're going to like.

Sometimes when you get to school there are lots of other cars, all adding to the traffic problems, sometimes causing accidents, and polluting the air. The more of your friends that ride the yellow school bus the better because it will reduce the numbers of cars on the roads - and that's good for your safety and for the air that you breathe.

The yellow school bus will have the same driver every day so you'll get to know them. In most cases you'll be able to get on the bus close to home, and the driver will have a list so that you're not left behind. On those days when you're feeling ill, or on holiday, or visiting friends, your parents can tell the yellow bus control so that the driver knows.

Because the yellow school bus is special, there are some safety tips that you need to know and understand. All the tips are there to make sure that you stay safe, and the yellow bus becomes as popular in this country as it already is in America and Canada.
