Flooding
The Highways and Engineering Service acts on information received from the Environment Agency and the Met Office to repond to the risk of highway flooding or flooding of properties from the highway.
Highway maintenance
Working in partnership, Highways aim to achieve a seamless highways service. We actively seek out highway defects and encourage members of the public to notify us of their concerns.
Inspection and repair
Calderdale Highways are responsible for the maintenance of 1000 km of adopted highway throughout the borough.
Report highway problems
The Customer First Contact Centre acts as the first contact point for reporting highway problems such as blocked gullies and faulty traffic signals.
Roadworks report
Scheduled road works and temporary traffic regulation orders in Calderdale.
Section 58 notices
Section 58 notices prevent utility companies from digging up roads for a 3 year period.

Winter service
The Council is committed to providing an efficient winter service and aims to keep the most important roads safe and as free as possible from wintry hazards. The gritting fleet can be mobilised within 1 hour and prioritises the salting of bus routes, major routes through towns and residential areas, and routes to schools and emergency service premises.
