Cycle routes and facilities

Hebble Trail

The Hebble Trail begins at Salterhebble lock and follows a newly surfaced linear route along the Halifax Arm towpath. The route runs under the busy A629 avoiding Salterhebble Hill and the rush hour congestion.

The route continues on an excellent surface with surrounding woodland making it hard to believe you are only a quarter of a mile from the main road. At Phoebe Lane the route enters a quiet road network and merges onto the cobbles at Shay Lane.

There is a gradual climb up to the 'Shay' home of Halifax Town Football Club and Halifax Rugby League Football Club.

Due to the surface improvements of the Hebble Trail and Route 66 Calder Valley Greenway, it is now possible to cycle off road between Sowerby Bridge and Halifax.
