Calder Valley Cycleway
Opened in Spring 2002 the Cycleway offers walkers and cyclists a traffic-free, easygoing route through the outstanding scenery of the Calder Valley, linking the busy market towns of Todmorden, Hebden Bridge and Sowerby Bridge.
The route currently extends over 20 kilometres between Sowerby Bridge and the Rochdale border at Warland on newly constructed paths, quiet roads and some sections of the canal towing-path. A collection of public art, varying from wooden seats to sculptures, is to be found along the way.
Plans are in place to extend the Cycleway via Elland and Brighouse to the Kirklees border at Cooper Bridge, providing a link to Halifax via the Hebble Trail at Salterhebble.
