Vulnerable adults
Adult Safeguarding Board Annual Report
This report summarises the activity of the Adult Safeguarding Board from April 2007 to March 2008. During this period the Safeguarding Adults Procedures have been updated and there has been a successful relaunch with all partner agencies involved.
Over 2,400 people have received training and awareness in reporting and responding to abuse, this has included professional staff, people who use care services and interest groups.
The number of cases reported has continued to increase from 213 in the last financial year to 273 this year, 45 of these were unsubstantiated. Allegations against paid carers were reduced from 67 to 57. Through increased awareness raising and vigilance we are working towards reducing this number further over the next financial year.
Calderdale has adopted a zero tolerance approach to abuse and expect partner agencies to respond to the slightest incident of inappropriate or disrespectful practice.
