Voluntary work

Doing voluntary work is a good way to use your skills to help other people, whilst at the same time learning something new. There are many chances to do voluntary work and it is worthwhile thinking about what you want to do and what you want to get out of volunteering.

As a volunteer you may get the chance to develop new skills. You won't get any payment although you could have any expenses or training costs covered.

There are many reasons to do voluntary work:

  • You can help other people in your area
  • You will get to meet new people
  • You can do something you enjoy
  • You can develop your interests
  • You can learn something new.

Volunteers get involved in a whole range of activities including working in the countryside, helping out in charity shops, visiting elderly people or fund raising.
