Change4Life
Introduction
The national and local 'Change4Life' campaign encourages people to eat well, move more, and live longer.
You can take practical steps to eat well, move more, and live longer, starting straight away. Furthermore, Calderdale Council and NHS Calderdale offer a range of practical support, much of which is free-of-charge or at low cost.
Practical steps
Move more
- Add a bit more physical activity into your everyday life - this could be something like housework, gardening, walking, cycling, dancing, swimming, keep fit, or sports; helpful information is available on the following site: Getting Active|

- These things are fun, make us feel better and happier, and help keep us at a healthy weight.
Eat well
- Eat more fruit and vegetables and more fresh foods, and eat less fatty foods, sugar, and processed foods; helpful information is available on the following sites - 5 a day|

- This makes us feel better and happier, and helps keep us at a healthy weight.
Be a healthy weight
- Move more and eat well = healthier weight;
- This helps us live longer, with a better quality of life, and to be happier;
- It also reduces the risk of long-term health problems like diabetes, heart disease, and cancers.
Halifax is one of nine areas in England participating in the Government's Healthy Towns programme, which is part of Change4Life. The aim is to make it easier for local people to eat well, move more, and live longer. Local projects are promoting active play, sport, family activities, growing and eating your own fruit and vegetables, and workplace health. The Government's Change4Life|
