A range of services are available in Calderdale for adults and young people wanting help with their use of drugs or alcohol.
Support is also available for the family and friends of people addicted to drugs or alcohol.
For adults
Calderdale Substance Misuse Service (CSMS)
CSMS is a free and confidential NHS service that offers a supportive and friendly environment to provide a range of holistic services for people experiencing problems with drugs and / or alcohol.
Services include: assessment of need; advice and information; substitute prescribing; one to one support as well as group work programmes; home or community detox or referral for inpatient detox; needle exchange; vaccinations and blood borne virus testing; access to a specialist housing worker and referral on to other services where appropriate.
CSMS also delivers services from GP surgeries covering most localities in Calderdale.

conn3ct
conn3ct is a service for drug users and dependent alcohol users who are in recovery.
The service helps people to live independently and play a positive role in their community by offering support in three main areas:
- housing
- education / training / employment
- therapeutic aftercare.

The Basement Project
An independent self-help organisation that offers support and inspiration to people involved with alcohol and / or substance misuse, and the opportunity of a new sustained abstinent lifestyle.
The service has a recovery, detoxification and relapse programme to help people get clean from alcohol and / or drugs and to understand more about the nature of the addictive illness; with this understanding people can manage a life free from addiction. It also offers a sober-living therapeutic community that further supports people towards living drug and / or alcohol free in their community, a breakfast club and drop-in centre as well as a bespoke volunteer training programme.

Project Colt
Project Colt is a charity with a supporting Ltd Company whose aim is to support healthy addiction-free lifestyles. This is achieved by offering a range of therapeutic services; professional counselling; pre detox and motivational groupwork; promoting Twelve Step recovery; relapse prevention workshops; creative workshops; help with family and relationship problems.
Volunteering and work placements are also offered, to help people in recovery, in our pre loved furniture sales, deliveries, recycling and environmental projects.

Progress 2 Work
Progress 2 Work offers support to people who see education, training and employment as a goal.
Advisers work with individuals to develop programmes of one-to-one support, training and activities geared towards identifying employment goals and overcoming barriers to achievement.
Open to adults who use drugs or alcohol, or have done so in the past, have issues with housing or are or have been involved in the criminal justice system and are eligible for a working age benefit.

For people affected by someone else’s use of drugs or alcohol
Loved Ones Unite
A support group set up for the family, friends and loved ones affected by someone's drug / alcohol addiction.
Education and support is offered in a range of capacities, be it emotional, spiritual or practical. This support is offered to anyone. Coffee and a chat is available if that is what is needed. No pressure, just people who have been through the pain of witnessing a loved one who is affected by a drug or alcohol addiction, or even both.
