Somerset House

Interior view of the Grand Salon, Somerset HouseCalderdale Council is pleased to offer facilities for ceremonies in the stunning Grand Salon of Somerset House, a model of Georgian elegance, with its resplendent plasterwork by the Italian master craftsman Giuseppe Cortese.

Somerset House, Halifax is licensed for Civil Weddings and Civil Partnership Formations and can also be used as a venue for Renewal of Vows and Child Naming Ceremonies.

The Ceremony Suite is on the first floor, accessible by a polished granite staircase or by lift. The Grand Salon can accommodate up to 60 guests and the cloakrooms include access for wheelchair users and baby change facilities.

There is a separate door into the Grand Salon for any bride, groom or civil partner who wishes to make an entrance and be escorted into the room.
