Twin towns

Ludenscheid

Aerial view of Luedenscheid

Ludenscheid, a beautiful town of about 100,000 inhabitants is set high in the hills of the Sauerland region of Nord-Rhine Westphalia, 40 km south of Dortmund.

It is surrounded by steep, thickly wooded valleys and numerous lakes and reservoirs. It has a flourishing economy based on high technology light industry, which has caused it to expand rapidly in the last 20 years.

The modern town centre now surrounds the well-preserved "Old Town", with pedestrian precincts and tunnels for through traffic affording relaxed shopping conditions. Residential areas spread out to the edge of the forest; it is truly a delightful place to live.
