Upbeat exercise referral scheme

The Upbeat Scheme is a ten week programme of activities which has been organised in partnership with local GP's( General Practitioners), Calderdale Primary Care Trust ( NHS) and Actvity and Community Development.

It is aimed at people who are not used to physical activity and who might have certain medical conditions. It gives you the opportunity to try some regular activity to help improve your health and well being.

There are regular sessions available throughout the week at various locations within Calderdale.

If you are interested in taking part in regular physical activity then make an appointment to see your doctor or practice nurse. They will then recommend you to start the scheme if they feel you would benefit from regular exercise.

When you have been recommended to take part your doctor or practice nurse will send your details on a form to Activity and Community Development (you will also be given a copy).

Once your details have been processed you will receive a letter inviting you to contact the Upbeat co-ordinator to book on to a ten week course.

What will it cost?

Membership for the Upbeat scheme is free of charge, lasts for 26 weeks and gives you access to free and discounted activities.

Following your intial 10 weeks free Upbeat sessions you will then have the opportunity to access Graduate upbeat sessions at a small cost.
