Sport for everyone

Disability sport awareness

Activity and Community Development organise a number of sessions at schools throughout Calderdale with a view to raising awareness in mainstream clubs and schools. The aim of the sessions is to offer games and activities that will accommodate all young people with varying abilities.

The games include -

Boccia
Similar to bowls, played at the paralympics and is ideal for players of all abilities.
Goalball
This is an active court game for visually impaired and sighted players.
New Age Kurling
A form of curling that can be played indoors. A popular inclusive sport that is now recognised by Disability Sport England.

All three games provide excellent opportunities for inclusion, integrating disabled and non-disabled young people in different sporting challenges.
