Sports centres and swimming pools
Admissions policy
- a. Children under the age of 8 must be accompanied into the water/activity by a responsible adult (over 16) except when children are participating in appropriate centre organised sessions/activities. b. Adults may be responsible for up to two children under 8 years of age (swimming only).
- Non/weak swimmers are restricted to shallow water areas, unless under direct supervision of a qualified instructor.
- All non swimmers should wear approved swimming aids, except in an appropriate teaching situation.
- A non or weak swimmer is someone who cannot swim 10m on front and back and cannot tread water for more than 30 seconds.
- The teaching pool (Halifax) is restricted to non swimmers and their parents/guardians during public sessions.
- Swimmers/parents or guardians are to advise pool staff on arrival of any illness or disability that may affect them.
- Masks and flippers are not allowed into the pool during public swimming sessions.
- Wherever possible children over 7 years should be encouraged to change in their own sex changing rooms.
- Persons who appear to be under the influence of drink or drugs will not be allowed to enter the water/take part in activities.
- Standards of Behaviour:- Any persons whose behaviour is deemed inappropriate by Centre Management will be removed from the centre. Any incidents of this nature should be reported to Centre Management immediately.
- During advertised ‘Fun Swims’ adult entry will only be permitted if accompanying children.
- Classification of Juniors – under 16 years of age.
- Admission fees do not apply to children under the age of 3 years (swimming only).
- Family Swim admission constitutes 2 adults and 2 children, or 1 adult and 3 children.
- The facilities must not be used for coaching/instructing (whether paid or unpaid) without prior approval from the Centre Management.
- The use of any equipment capable of recording still or moving images is strictly prohibited without prior permission of Centre Management.
- Smoking is not permitted in any of our facilities.
