National Bike Week

The third week of June is National Bike Week. Every year throughout Calderdale there are numerous events organised by the Council including bike rides, free maintenance checks, picnics, obstacle courses and much more.

The whole season is a festival of cycling, with plenty of opportunities to improve your skills, talk about how to get started on a bike, or simply rest on your handlebars and watch the world ride by.

If your club would like to include your events on this site, please contact the Transportation Team .

In Town, Without My Car!

In Town, Without My Car! is a firmly established event across Europe and beyond. On 22nd September every year, town centre streets are closed to cars and lorries and open up for people to enjoy walking, cycling, street theatre, live music, dancing, public art, children's play areas and other fun activities. By closing a road to motor traffic for the day, we get a glimpse of how much everyone's quality of life would be improved with less noise and air pollution. The road becomes a lively, convivial spot to spend the day.
