Introduction

Calderdale Council is gradually developing a safe, convenient and attractive cycling network using a combination of on- and off-road routes. It is hoped that these ongoing improvements will:

• maximise the role of cycling as a key mode of transport in accordance with local needs and circumstances;
• reduce dependency on the private car;
• promote cycling as a healthy, enjoyable and economically viable transport option.
