Aerobics

aquafit

A great option for those who need to improve their cardiovascular fitness, there's an aerobics class for everyone, whether you're a beginner or an exercise fan. Instructors know that warm up and down is important so you'll be led through the class without risking injury, and though classes are usually aimed at one particular level, the movements can be easily adjusted to suit your own ability.

As well as traditional aerobics classes, there are step classes, which burn calories more quickly, and aqua aerobics (aquafit), which is ideal for those who are overweight or who have joint problems, since it is low impact.

Have you thought about trying an studio cycling class?

cycling

An studio cycling class is an excellent way to burn some calories and relieve stress. The workout employs a stationary bike, which has various tension levels. The bike will also track your progress, so that you are motivated to continue and accomplish your fitness goals.

Benefits include:

Burn calories - a typical 50 minute class may burn up to 500 calories.

Build muscle tone - workouts focus on core muscles as well as buttocks and thighs.

Increased cardio endurance - with regular classes. Particularly beneficial if you feel weaker and start panting after insignificant effort such as climbing the stairs.

Low Impact - meaning it won't put pressure on knee's or Joints and is recommended for people suffering from arthritis.

Relieve Stress - Any type of exercise is known to relieve stress. However, a cycling class can be a more efficient stress reliever than most types of exercise. This is due to the fact that the workout is intensive and it is a class where you can meet people and socialize.

Reduced risk of injury - While running and jogging may present a high risk of injury, a cycling class is less likely to cause any injuries. However, it's recommended to stretch prior to the class, so that you don't pull any muscles.

Adjustable tempo - the stationary bike will have adjustable tensions which you can change during your class. Your trainer will indicate when to change the tension or you can adjust it yourself according to your abilities and fitness.

The system comprises of 4 underwater CCTV cameras. The cameras monitor activity beneath the surface of the water and feed the views directly to a screen on the lifeguard chair. This allows lifeguards to quickly detect anyone in difficulty in the diving pit, even if they are at the bottom of the pool.

Closed-circuit television (CCTV) is in use throughout Calderdale and a code of practice ensures that data protection principles are complied with.
