15p Credit and Debit Card charge

Like many activities dependent on public funding, Sports Services have been hit hard in the recent spending review. The Leisure Centres and Pools are no exception.

Over many years, we have been listening carefully to you, our customers, and have responded by improving the services at the Centres and keeping a wide range of activities and Classes available to the Public. We are also determined to ensure our special schemes in the Community, Upbeat health intervention schemes, activity schemes for disadvantaged children, sessions for children with disabilities, support for clubs and societies, coach education courses and the Passport to Leisure scheme all continue as well as maintaining our extensive Swimming Lesson and Coaching programme.

As a result, since 2 April 2012 we have introduced a charge of 15p per Credit or Debit card payment. This is a one off charge per transaction irrespective of the number of items purchased. For all payments made by Cash or Cheque there will be no charge. This decision is not one that we have taken lightly. We are charged by the banks for every Credit and Debit card payment processed and the number of transactions have increased over the years. Regrettably we have no profits to pay this substantial bill from. The only alternatives would have been to increase prices further for everyone or reduce the number of Classes and Courses available or reduce opening hours and staffing.

By using our Sports facilities you are continuing to support us in the most positive way possible. Finally, do keep letting us have your feedback: your comments are always read with interest and your suggestions are valuable to us.
