Sunday 3rd April
Family walk from Shibden Hall

Meet Jan and Chris Buckley at 10.30 in Shibden Park, Halifax (bottom car park – near Mereside) for a 3 mile walk on the Magna Via to Beacon Hill. Involves a steep climb.

Friday 8th April
Ogden Water around and back

Meet Moy Cash and Paul Birchall outside Mixenden Outdoor Centre, Clough Lane, Mixenden HX2 8SN at 10.00 for a circular 4 mile (approximately) walk which includes some stiles and uphill sections.

Monday 11th April
Walk it together health walk

Meet Jean Butler outside Keighley Road Surgery, Keighley Road, Illingworth at 13.00 for a 2-3 mile walk.

Health walks take place 2nd and 4th Monday of each month. Route varies; walks visit Mixenden, Bradshaw and Ogden.

Note: Walks may be cancelled at short notice in poor weather. Please ring 01422 281529.

Thursday 14th April
The big Springtime walks

Join Iain Cameron from Calderdale Countryside Service, Ruth Wood from the Upbeat team and Anne Cuthbert from Age Concern Calderdale and Kirklees for two walks from Manor Heath Park, Halifax (HX1 3EA) run in partnership with Age UK Calderdale.

Choose from a 1 mile easy stroll round the park (suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs) or a longer 2-3 mile walk exploring the local area. Walks start from outside the Jungle Experience at 13.00.

Bring a container / pot and plant it up with herbs grown at Manor Heath after the walk if you wish and take it home with you (no charge). If you need any further information, please contact Ruth on 01422 284425 or Anne on 01422 252040.

Friday 15th April
A walk to Shibden! To the beacon and back

A series of walks led by the Shibden Estate rangers, starting at various points but always ending in the Shibden cafe for soup, sandwiches and a drink!

Meet in the top car park, Shibden Park, Halifax at 11.00. Walk will last approximately 1.5 hours and is aimed at adults. Routes will allow for public transport back to the start where necessary.

Sunday 17th April
Rocks and waterfalls in Gorpley Clough

Meet Alison Tymon from West Yorkshire Geology Trust in the car park at the foot of Gorpley Clough, Bacup Road, Todmorden at 14.00 for a 1 mile walk to find out how rocks have created the waterfalls and landscapes.

Paths might be slippery in places - please wear suitable footwear.

Wednesday 20th April
Calderdale Way 1

Meet Alan Greenwood at 10.30 in Halifax Bus Station for the 10.35 bus to Wainstalls (stand C4 at time of going to press).

Begin the Calderdale Way with an 8.2 miles walk from Wainstalls back to Halifax via the Shibden Valley. Bus fare needed for trip from Halifax to Wainstalls.

Friday 22nd April
Widdop Reservoir and its wildlife

Meet Steve Blacksmith from Halifax Scientific Society in Clough Foot car park just past the Packhorse pub on the Slack - Colne Road at 11.00.

4 mile walk over turf paths (some road walking) to appreciate the scenery, birds and investigate one of the highest known toad colonies. Donations welcome to Halifax Scientific Society.
