Transcript of the audio walk 'Tickled pink on Rishworth Moor'
Rating: Moderate/Hard
Length: 6 miles
Time: 3–4 hours
This walk takes place over moorland so please be prepared and take spare clothing with you. Please do not attempt the walk in bad weather.
The walk starts at the entrance road to Green Withens Reservoir approximately 450 yards from Junction 22 of the M62 on the A672 towards Halifax. Walk up the lane and follow the road with the drain on the left as the track bends around towards the reservoir.
Follow the footpath around and cross the embankment. At the end of the embankment follow the drain around to the right.
After 250 yards take the footpath off to the left and head up the hill passing White Hills and Flint Hill on the right. Where the path forks take the left hand fork along Rishworth drain following the contour of the hill.
You will eventually come to the old Pack Horse Road that was once the main route across the Pennines. Turn left and follow the route into Lancashire. Eventually the Pennine Way meets the Pack Horse Road. At this point turn left and follow the Pennine Way south along Blackstone Edge.
Follow the Pennine Way along and pass the trig point at Robin Hood’s bed before descending towards the M62.
The Pennine Way continues across the footbridge over the M62, however you will need to turn left and follow the permissive path along the top of the cutting and then follow the drain back to the road into Green Withens.
People are advised to take the relevant OS map when going on any of our recommended walks.
