Manor Heath Nurseries

Manor Heath's Nurseries work non stop throughout the year to ensure that Calderdale's parks, open spaces, community groups and local businesses have their regular supply of bedding plants, wildflowers, floral displays and hanging baskets.

The nurseries annually produce 350,000 plants for both winter and summer bedding, 900 hanging baskets in over 150 varieties and 22,000 wildflower plug plants which are distributed to volunteer groups throughout Calderdale.

There is a small surplus plant sales area, next to the Jungle Experience entrance, where customers can buy a range of plants to take home.

Planting a sustainable Calderdale

Manor Heath's nurseries are using innovative sustainable methods for plant production including:

• All bedding plants are grown in reduced peat compost containing peat, chipped, composted bark and loam.
• All hanging basket compost contains a water retaining foam, which releases absorbed water back into the compost.
• 530 self-watering baskets are used in three areas of the borough to reduce the need to water daily.
• Hanging basket liners are made from a material which retains moisture which is biodegradable. All baskets have been grown using peat free compost.
• The nursery has automatic thermal screens which help conserve water and provides plants with the ideal growing environment.
• 22,000 wildflower plants grown annually which are then planted throughout Calderdale and distributed to community and volunteer groups.

Manor Heath's hanging baskets, which can be seen around many public spaces throughout Calderdale can be ordered by businesses and individuals alike. Order's must be sent to Manor Heath by 1st May of each year.
