Centre Vale Park

Centre Vale Park is located less than half a mile from Todmorden Town Centre. Famous for hosting some of the regions most popular outdoor events, including the National Crown Green Bowling Club Championships and the Todmorden Agricultural Show, Centre Vale Park offers a unique outdoor environment close to an urban centre.

Bowling greens

The Park has been used for public events since the first bowling greens were open in 1915, and continues today to be an area used for walking, sports and formal recreation, picnics, family outings and large scale events including the Agricultural Show (one of the largest in the north of England), music events, the towns Carnival, Brass Band concerts, the National Crown Green Bowling Club Championships schools and educational events. Centre Vale Park consists of 33 Ha (328,591m2) of mature oak and beech woodland intersected by woodland walks. The main body of the park landscape includes sports pitches, formal memorial gardens, conservatory / animal house, sports arena including pitch & putt, tennis courts, all weather 5-a-side football, crazy golf, under 12’s roadway, four crown greens, table tennis, chess board and community room. To the East of the park are the children’s play area, skate park and public toilets. The channelled River Calder runs along the north eastern boundary of the park adjacent to Burnley Road.

Centre Vale Park achieved a Green Flag Award|External link for 2011/2012. The Green Flag Award® scheme is the benchmark national standard for parks and green spaces in the UK. The award recognises and rewards the best green spaces in the country. The Safer Cleaner Greener Upper Valley Team have worked in partnership with the Friends of Centre Vale Park to achieve this standard and continue to improve the area for the benefit of all.

Facilities

Centre Vale Park boasts a variety of facilities and activities to suit a wide range of park users.

Sports Park including:

The Sports Park area is opened and managed by Todmorden Sports Centre. The public on-site toilets located adjacent to the play area are open during staff hours on site.

Conservatory / Animal House

The Conservatory and animal House is open seven days a week between 10 am and 4pm. The facility is closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day & New Years Day.

Skate park

Play Area and Skate Park

Refurbished in 2005, the play area at Centre Vale Park offers a large variety of different play items for children to explore, including a Zip Wire, a Space Net and an inclusive Climbing Unit and a fully inclusive Roundabout.

The Skate Park is located at the south east corner of the park and provides facilities for local skaters.

Cafe

The Cafe is located at the sports centre and is open 7 days a week. for more details. For more details see Todmorden Sports Centre.

The Cafe is closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day.

Getting to the park

Centre Vale Park is located on the A646 Burnley Road, to the Northeast of Todmorden town centre and adjacent to the town's cricket ground.

The car park is situated off Ewood Lane at the western end of the park and adjacent to the Sports Centre.

Pedestrian access to the park is from the 6 entrances surrounding the main park area. The town centre, bus and railway stations are just 5 minutes walk away.
