Bailiff Bridge Memorial Park

Bailiff Bridge Memorial Park is situated at the heart of the Bailiff Bridge community.
The memorial shelter was built in 1921 by the owners of Firth Carpets as a First World War memorial and place for local people to enjoy. In February 2007 work commenced to restore the pavilion back to its original condition, undertaken to English Heritage standards, it now allows extensive views across the park and internal lighting installed allows the shelter to be used throughout the year.
The gardens provide areas of herbaceous, shrub and perennial planting and also include open areas of design grass. The original path network and internal ground modelling are still intact from the original 1921 design.
The unique Portland stone Cenotaph carved in the 1920’s is the centre piece to the park, restored back to its glory and enhanced with ornamental lighting, it is the centre of Bailiff Bridge Memorial day services.
The recent landmark improvements to the park and local area have been driven by the local community and the Bailiff Bridge Community Association (BBCA).
The park is often used as a meeting place for the local community and hosts a number of events throughout the year. The park’s notice board will have the most up to date information on upcoming events and community contacts.
Bailiff Bridge achieved a Green Flag Award|
for 2011/2012. The Green Flag Award® scheme is the benchmark national standard for parks and green spaces in the UK. The award recognises and rewards the best green spaces in the country. The local community at Bailiff Bridge worked hard with the Safer Cleaner Greener Lower Valley Team to bring the Park up to this standard and continue to improve the area for the benefit of all.
