Entrance to Bankfield museum Bankfield Museum is housed in an imposing Victorian Mansion, set within an attractive park, less than a mile from the centre of Halifax.

Bankfield is steeped in history and has been a museum for over a hundred years. The collections date from prehistoric times to the 21st century and include an internationally important collection of costume and textile. With so much to discover there is something to interest visitors of all ages.

Shirley Craven and Hull Traders: Revolutionary Post-War Fabrics and Furniture

This ground breaking exhibition celebrates Craven's remarkable creative partnership with Hull Traders, the company who printed her designs. Shirley Craven revolutionised post war furnishings with her dramatic, unconventional work. Those who worked for the company included Eduardo Paolozzi, Althea McNish and Peter McCulloch.

Fabrics and furniture that encapsulate the exuberance of the Swinging Sixties go on display in this exhibition which showcases the extraordinary output of the company. Curated by leading post war design historian Lesley Jackson.
