Local studies and family history resources

Parish registers

These cover Calderdale and the surrounding area.

They are accessible via the West Yorkshire Archive Service, Calderdale. This service is adjacent to the Central Reference Library, Halifax and open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 9.30 am to 5.00 pm.

The registers are available in the Reference Library in the evenings and on Saturdays.

The Reference Library has published, indexed transcriptions of certain parish registers and a collection of volumes of Monumental Inscriptions from the local area. Please ask staff for details.
