Traditions

Introduction

Some of the highlights of the Calderdale year are the re-enactments of traditions with their roots in the distant past. Easter time sees the Pace Egg Play, while the Rushbearing Festival enlivens the early autumn.

Historically, a number of pubs and inns had particular customs attached to them too, including the mayor-making ceremony at the Lord Nelson Inn at Luddenden.
