Health information

The Health Information Point at Elland Library draws together, in a designated area, books for lending and reference, along with a range of helpful and informative leaflets and handouts. Library staff can help you access online information and also help you with the Choose and Book facility for NHS appointments. Changing displays highlight areas of particular interest.

Monthly LifeCheck sessions are held at the library, including checks such as Weight, BMI, Blood Pressure and Diabetes Risk Assessment. Healthy lifestyle advice is also available at these sessions. For further information, contact Smehra Hussain on 01422 281529/07786 841877 or e-mail smehra.hussain@swyt.nhs.uk

Greater Elland Historical Society

The Greater Elland Historical Society|External link has a History Room at Elland Library which houses the Society’s archives, including photos, documents, artefacts and publications relating to old Elland. The room is staffed by volunteers each Tuesday and Thursday afternoon, from 2 to 4pm. Visitors will be made welcome at those times and the volunteers will help and advise where they are able.

Elland Library has its own Local Studies collection in an adjoining room and this collection is available whenever the library is open. A further extensive collection of Calderdale-wide Local studies and family history resources is available in the Central Reference Library in Halifax.
