Which Level?
The courses listed in this guide have been listed as various ‘levels’. This is to help you to decide which course is right for you, show how different courses compare, and how one course leads onto another (progression). For a summary of the different levels, see below. We encourage progression through our programmes, and if you are thinking of repeating the same course please contact us on 01422 392820 and we will advise you accordingly.
| Level | Example | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Entry (E1 -E3) | Step into…ESOL | Courses for people who feel they need a lot of help in the Skills for Life area. ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) is offered to those wanting to learn to read, write and speak in English. |
| 0 - 1 | Beginners | Courses suitable for complete beginners with no previous knowledge of the subject. |
| 1 | Move on | These courses are for people who are already confident with the basics but feel they need to improve on their existing skills or need help in certain areas before progressing to Level 2. Courses may lead to a Level 1 qualification. |
| 2 | Next Step GCSE Fast-Track | Courses for those who are already fairly confident in the subject. GCSEs are longer courses where the subject is studied in depth, whereas the Fast-Track courses are for those who need an intensive short course leading to a Level 2 equivalent qualification in Maths / English. |
| 3 | Advanced | Courses that require previous study or experience and often lead to a professional qualification. |
If you’re still unsure about anything, please contact us or attend one of our ‘Open Days’.
