Norland Scarecrow Festival
This event began in 2000 as a millenium celebration but was such a success it has continued to be an annual event ever since - organised by the community to raise funds for the village.This year's theme is books - there are usually about 80 scarecrows and this year evey school in Calderdale has been invited to add to the scarecrow count.
First Calderline is providing a free bus tour of the route for those who prefer not to walk the three mile trail. The event is centred on the playing fields where there will be trail sheets for sale, scarecrow goodies, food and drink and lots more including an appearance from Friendly and Hebden Junior Brass Bands. Added attractions include a small old fashioned fair, model steam train rides and a barrel organ to add Old World charm.
