Unitary development plan
The development plan sets out the land-use planning framework for the future of the district.
The Replacement Calderdale Unitary Development Plan (UDP) was adopted on 25th August 2006.

The Statutory Development Plan for Calderdale is made up of the Replacement Calderdale Unitary Development Plan and the following:-

Tip: to find out what policies apply to a particular site, please use the "i" information tool on the map page, which will open a list of policies that are relevant to the site and provide links to the wording of the policies. - Note: Since the adoption of the Replacement Calderdale Unitary Development Plan on 25 August 2006, there have been changes to conservation areas in the district. Replacement Calderdale UDP policies relating to conservation areas will apply to the new areas. For further information relating to these changes please contact the Conservation Team on 01422 392268.
The Replacement Calderdale UDP was amended on 25 August 2009. A Direction from the Secretary of State extended the life of some policies within the Replacement Calderdale UDP for an indefinite period until deleted or replaced by policy within the Local Development Framework, but has deleted 46 policies. The Replacement Calderdale UDP has been amended to reflect the Direction. The text of the deleted policies has been edited by striking through, but has not been removed from the documents themselves. The deleted policies and text no longer form part of the statutory development plan for Calderdale. Since 25 August 2009 planners and decision-makers have not been able to refer to the deleted text/policies in their decisions.

The Replacement Calderdale UDP Proposals Map and Written Statement Adopted August 2006 are available to purchase. They are also available to view at Planning Reception, 2nd Floor, Northgate House and all Calderdale libraries.

Please note that the former Calderdale Unitary Development Plan (Adopted 1997) has ceased to have any effect in decision making and has been withdrawn from the website.
