Local Development Framework

Introduction

The Local Development Framework (LDF) is the new development plan for Calderdale, which will eventually supersede the Replacement Calderdale Unitary Development Plan (UDP), adopted 25 August 2006.

Until the LDF has completely replaced the Replacement Calderdale UDP (2006) - not likely to occur until at least 2012/13 - planning decisions will have to based upon both sets of documents where relevant.

The Annual Monitoring Report will set out each year which policies in the Replacement Calderdale UDP are still applicable.

The LDF already contains a number of separate documents including the Local Development Scheme; Annual Monitoring Report; draft Statement of Community Involvement and a number of draft Supplementary Planning Documents. Other documents will be brought forward in accordance with the Local Development Scheme.

The Regional Spatial Strategy for Yorkshire & the Humber May 2008|External link  (RSS) sets out a development framework for the Yorkshire and Humber Region. The LDF must be in general conformity with the RSS.

The Yorkshire and Humber Assembly are commencing a Regional Spatial Strategy 2009 Update|External link  to look at housing growth in the region. The 2009 Update will test and explore the scale of growth, locations for growth and infrastructure needed to accommodate growth.
