Development Plan Documents

Land allocations and designations

The Land Allocations and Designations Development Plan Document (DPD) will identify sites proposed to be developed for:

  • housing
  • employment
  • retailing
  • waste management
  • open space, sports and recreation facilities
  • community uses
  • green belt
  • environmental protection areas

The Local Development Framework Proposals Map will show these allocations and designations which will meet the vision and objectives of the Core Strategy.

It will set out policies for the development of such sites and phasing policies as appropriate. It will also identify safeguarded land to meet long-term development needs.

The Council started work on the Land Allocations and Designations DPD in early 2008 and have undertaken a 'Call for Sites' which invited contributions towards a list of potential sites to support an evidence base for the Local Development Framework. This is supported by the Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA) and Employment Land Review (ELR).
