Housing energy grants

Introduction

Insulated homes are warmer and save you money. Without insulation, your home could lose up to 35% of its heat through the walls and up to 25% through the roof. Up to 15% can be lost individually through both the doors and the floor and up to 10% through windows.

Insulating your roof and walls could save you up to £380 per year on your energy bill (based on an un-insulated three bed semi detached house).

Warmer homes are healthier

Living in a warm, comfortable home helps prevent and ease the symptoms of cold related respiratory illnesses such as heart and lung conditions and helps to reduce the risk of falls for older people. It can also help people who have chronic joint conditions such as arthritis and those people who have a physical disability or mental illness which may limit movement and or mean that the occupant spends a lot of time at home.

To discuss the range of energy efficiency grants and schemes available, contact the Housing Energy Action Team. Through speaking to the team, most people who qualify for assistance have benefited: either by reducing their bills or by making their home warmer.
