Stages when inspections are required
Inspections can be requested from Building Control Services during the following times by phone
Monday to Thursday between 8.30am and 5.30pm
Friday between 8.30am and 5pm
Or call in our office between 9.00am and 5.00pm
An answerphone is in operation when our offices are closed. Below are advisory stages, which should be agreed at commencement with the Building Control Surveyor.
New constructions
- Before commencement of work: 48 hours prior to inspection
- Before covering excavations for foundations: 24 hours prior to inspection
- Before covering concrete foundations: 24 hours prior to inspection
- Before covering oversite materials: 24 hours prior to inspection
- Before covering damp proof course: 24 hours prior to inspection
Before covering drains after laying: 24 hours prior to inspection
- Drain test following backfill: Within seven days
- Before occupation of the building: Seven days prior to inspection
- On completion of the building: Within seven days
If you contact us to ask for an inspection before 10 am on a working day, we will guarantee a visit the same day.
A good time to inspect the work in addition to the above is at the pre-plaster stage.
Further inspections may be required as the work progresses. These can be requested by yourself or agreed following discussions with your building control surveyor.
