Highway maintenance

Introduction

Working in partnership, the Council's Highways Team aim to achieve a seamless highways service. We actively seek out highway defects and encourage members of the public to notify us of their concerns.

We can respond to emergency situations within one hour by utilising our Emergency Response and Rapid Response Teams ensuring the highway is made safe as quickly as possible.

Our highway design team ensures improvements to our highways are beneficial to both motorists and pedestrians, making the area safer and that it remains in keeping with the surrounding area.

We constantly monitor and inspect the work of the public utilities ensuring current highway legislation is adhered to at all times. We work closely with the utility companies to minimise disruption and keep local communities informed.
