Commons and towns or village greens register
The Council keeps a register of common land and village greens. You can ask for a search of the register to be carried out on your behalf, or you can consult the register personally during office hours.
Development control
Calderdale Council Development Control team is responsible for determining planning applications in accordance with local and national policy, following local consultation.

The Regeneration section encourages conservation of the built environment by providing specialist advice on the protection and enhancement of conservation areas and historic buildings.
Local Development Framework
The Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 has changed the way development plans are drawn. Instead of the Unitary Development Plan (UDP) there will be a Local Development Framework made up of a series of Local Development Documents.

The unitary development plan is a land-use plan for the borough and was formally adopted on the 25th August 2006.
