Street naming and numbering
Timescale and charges
Timescale
The street naming process includes a consultation period of four weeks. For all new addresses, the Royal Mail states that a postcode will be provided within two weeks. If your development will need a street name, you should therefore submit an application at least ten weeks before you need the addresses. You may need these addresses before you can get mains services connected so your application should be submitted as early as possible.
For other developments, you should allow at least six weeks.
Street nameplates can take up to eight weeks to arrive.
Charges for postal addressing
Current charges are shown under 'Rights of Way' at Highways and Engineering Services charges 2012/13.
There is no charge for the correction of an error in the Council's records.
