Wellholme Park workshops
Explore the world of minibeasts on a safari through the wood. Compare and contrast the inhabitants of a variety of habitats including woodland floor, trees (alive and dead) and grassland. Includes the use of simple keys and species recording. Suitable for Reception, Key Stage 1 and 2 - session varies in complexity depending on age group of pupils.
Workshop includes a walk around the park to look at signs of spring plus a minibeast hunt in the woods and the chance to make a colour palette to take back to school. Suitable for Key Stage 1.

Wildlife Discovery Toddle
Short walk with activities aimed at children aged 3-5. Participants get the chance to meet local minibeasts, hunt for colours and make a leaf crown to take home.
A special walk which encourages children to explore an area in a very 'hands on' way, using activities which encourage the use of all the senses. Walks are tailored to fit individual requirements. Suitable for Reception, Key Stage 1 and 2.
Native American Indians
Bring your class along to learn more about the first people who lived in harmony with the Earth. Make a head dress, learn how to look for animal tracks and signs and listen to a traditional Native American story in the Tepee.
How to get to Wellholme Park
Wellholme Park is situated close to the centre of Brighouse on the A641 Bradford Road. The park is approximately 5 minutes walk from the bus station and 10 minutes walk from the train station.

- £3.25 per child per half day visit for Calderdale Schools.
- £3.75 per child per half day visit for Calderdale Academies of Private Schools.
- £4.25 per child per half day visit for all other Schools.
Please note the Native American Indian workshop will cost an additional £1.00 per child for materials.
What to bring
Please ensure that pupils bring appropriate footwear and a warm, waterproof coat. If the weather is very kind, it may even be necessary to bring sun hats and sun lotion! Bring lunch if eating in the park. All equipment needed for the visit will be provided by the Countryside Team.
