Building regulations approval

Introduction

Building Regulations Approval and Planning Permission

Building Regulations Approval is entirely separate from Planning Permission. If you want to carry out building work, you may need Planning Permission or Building Regulations Approval or both. If you get one you are not guaranteed the other, and you may need to apply for both separately.

Building Regulation Approval is concerned with how buildings are actually constructed.

Planning permission is concerned with development and use of land and regulates this in the public interest. The appearance of a development and how it will impact on neighbouring developments and the environment of Calderdale are important considerations.

For advice on the need for Planning Permission and other related consents, see the Development Control pages or contact Business Support on 01422 392237. The service provides informal advice on the need to submit applications.
