Children's social workers

Family Support and Child Protection

Currently based at Elland, approximately three miles from the centre of Halifax with easy access to the motorway network.

The role of this team

This team focuses on working with children and families who have complex needs and children in need of protection. In order to achieve good outcomes for children the emphasis is very much on multi agency working, as well as working closely with colleagues across the directorate.

The core services invariably focus on children placed both on the Child Protection Register, and into Local Authority Care, including those children who may be subject to Care Proceedings.

In addition, the service deals with step-parent adoptions, Section 37 reports (court welfare issues), private fostering, and children with complex needs who require a multi agency approach.

The team is split into three sub teams each having responsibility for a given geographical area.

To work in the Family Support and Child Protection Team you need to be able to work in an organised and planned way in order to meet timescales, have good assessment skills, and be able to work as part of a team.

The team consists of:

The team also offers regular placements to student social workers.
