Services for schools

Introduction

This web site provides information about all the services that Calderdale Council provides to schools. The purpose of this information is to allow schools to see exactly what is available. This will enable governors to compare Calderdale Council's services with other providers, both public and private, and assess every service for quality. Governors have a duty to ensure that they secure Best Value through their procurement decisions. The Service Specifications provided here will help them to discharge that responsibility.

For some services Calderdale Council retains funding and provides that service to Calderdale schools without cost. For the most part these services enable the Local Authority to discharge its statutory responsibilities. These are core services.

Other services are provided by Calderdale Council, but schools need to make a deliberate decision if they want to buy these services. These are the traded services like catering, building cleaning and payroll. There is no obligation for a school to buy any Council service.
