Complaints
From 1 September 2003, Governing Bodies of all maintained schools and nursery schools in England were required, under Section 29 of the Education Act 2002, to have in place a procedure to deal with complaints relating to the school and to any community facilities or services that the school provides. The law also requires the procedure to be publicised.
The Local Authority circulated guidance in 2001. The DCSF also provided a model for schools when General Complaints procedures became a legal requirement.

This model is intended to help schools draw up a school complaint procedure if they have not already done so, or to review their existing procedure if they wish.
