Teddy takes a Tumble and Little Lollipops
This combined training session for Year 1 and Reception pupils is taken up by an average 87% of our schools each year.
Teddy takes a Tumble
This training is aimed at Year 1 pupils covering the laws around seat belts and child car seats. The children listen to a story of what happened to ‘Teddy’ when he didn't wear a seat belt. This is followed by a practical demonstration using a model car with beanbag dolls highlighting the dangers of not wearing a seat belt and how seat belts save lives.
Children are then given the opportunity to experience how a seat belt works and could save their lives if they were unfortunate enough to be involved in a collision.
They will watch a DVD using crash test dummies to highlight the dangers of not wearing seat belts, not sitting in the correct car seat and how important it is to make sure their car seat is fitted correctly.
Every child will receive a copy of the 'Teddy takes a tumble' book to read at home with their parent/carers and a booklet with all they need to know on 'Seatbelts and the law'.
Little Lollipops
Little Lollipops is for Reception pupils and is about children holding hands with an adult and looking and listening as they cross the road. Covering basic road safety advice for children in this age group, the emphasis is on role play and children get the opportunity to be actively involved. Children get a pack of road safety resources and safety leaflets aimed at parents, including Holding Hands and Look and Listen as they cross the road.
