Accessing information about your child

To meet the requirements of the Data Protection Act 1998, schools need to issue a Privacy Notice to pupils and / or parents and carers summarising the information held about pupils, why it is held, and the third parties to whom it may be passed on.

Admissions

Children, young people and maternity services

This plan has been developed to promote a clear and consistent way forward for the commissioning of children and young people’s services which will help us to work better in partnership with service users, carers, providers and other key stakeholders whilst achieving best value and ultimately resulting in better outcomes for children, young people and families.

Environmental education

Details of the educational workshops available at countryside locations in Halifax, Brighouse and Todmorden. Topics include climate change, environmental art and trees; activities such as stream dipping and birdbox building are also available.

Museum learning

In addition to the Key Stage 1 and 2 programmes running in Calderdale's museums and galleries, events and activities for families and adults are also regulary held.

National curriculum

The National Curriculum currently details what is to be taught to children between the ages of five and sixteen in maintained schools.

Physical education and school sport

Events, competitions, meetings and training courses are organised by a range of partners across Calderdale.

Road safety education

Calderdale Road Safety offer a variety of training courses for school pupils of all ages. Training covers cycling, how to be a safe pedestrian and the consequences of not using a seat belt.

School food

Calderdale Council and Calderdale Primary Care Trust are working together to support schools and catering providers in the implementation of the Government's new standards for school food.

Schools forum

Schools Forums were set up to give schools greater involvement in the distribution of funding within their authority. The membership of Calderdale Schools Forum is made up of headteachers, school governors and representatives of religious groups and professional associations.

Governing bodies have a vital role to play in raising standards. This section contains advice, information and guidance to support new and existing governors.
