Beechwood Park workshops
Sensory Walks
A special walk which encourages children to explore an area in a very 'hands on' way, using activities which encourage the use of all senses. Walks are tailored to fit individual requirements. Suitable for Reception, Key Stage 1 and 2. Available all year round.
Wildlife Discovery Toddle
Short walk with activities aimed at children aged 3-5. Participants get the chance to meet local mini beasts, hunt for colours and make a lead crown to take home. Available all year round.
Mini beasts
Explore the world of mini beasts on a safari through the wood. Compare and contrast the inhabitants of a variety of habitats including woodland floor, trees (alive and dead) and grassland. Includes the use of simple keys and species recording. Suitable for Reception, Key Stage 1 and 2 - session varies in complexity depending on age group of pupils. Available Spring and Summer Terms.
Native American Indians
Bring your class along to learn more about the first people who lived in harmony with the Earth. Make a head dress, learn how to look for animal tracks and signs and listen to a traditional Native American story in the Teepee. Available Summer Term.
Charges
- £3.00 per child per half day visit for Calderdale Schools.
- £3.50 per child per half day visit for Calderdale Academies of Private Schools.
- £4.00 per child per half day visit for all other Schools.
Please note the Native American Indian workshop is half day charge plus £1.00 per child for materials.
How to get to Beechwood Park, Holmfield
Beechwood Park in Holmfield is situated off Beechwood Drive in North Halifax. There is a free car park off Heathy Lane.
