Education Welfare

Holding hands The Education Welfare Team provides a channel of communication between home and school and between parents and Local Education Authority in order to ensure that children gain access to, and benefit from educational provision.

The team has particular responsibilities in respect of pupils who experience deprivation or discrimination, together with those who are disaffected or have special educational needs.

Each Calderdale school has a named Education Welfare Officer who, working in partnership with school staff, seeks to develop a constructive and mutually supportive dialogue involving parents, pupils and other services which will enable pupils to attend regularly, behave acceptably and make a positive and beneficial contribution to the life of the school community.
